ASSET MAINTENANCE
NEW – MAY 2026
Work on roofs – commercial & industrial buildingsSafeWork NSW · Updated Code of Practice now in effect Clearer rules distinguishing total restraint, restraint technique and fall arrest. New specific guidance on SRLs and leading-edge devices. Roofs with regular maintenance (HVAC, solar, antennas) must have permanent higher-order controls — temporary measures no longer sufficient. Installing PV arrays now triggers a full reassessment of all fall controls — existing harness systems may no longer meet compliance. Roof space entry now requires de-energising the electrical installation — including solar cables that remain live when the main switch is off. PCBUs must now formally manage psychosocial risks as part of the roof work risk management process — a new addition to the Code. 4m+ fall risk scaffolds require a high risk work licence, handover certificate and re-inspection at WHS Regulation prescribed intervals. Is your WHS management plan up to date? Contact Ideal Asset Maintenance to review your compliance.
